Make your own bluetooth plugin for Sony mobiles

Posted in shiny, technology at 10:18 pm by coldclimate

After a little experimentation, I’ve made my own remote control HID file for my Sony Erikson k800i. It was remarkably easy. I was going to upload it to here, but it turns out many many people have done it before and far better, and a little googling with the right phrase “sony itunes hid bluetooth” would have saved me the trouble, however, it is quite satisfying, especially at this time of night, to do it yourself.

From an email from my firend Katie, I couldn’t help laughing at the flailing limbs…
“…went to the Grand Hotel yesterday for a spot of afternoon tea - the
grand hotel is ‘the only chinese palace styled hotel in the world’,
hahhaha, whatever that means, but looks quite nice. and whilst there
we saw Desmond Tutu! i got quite excited, not quite as excited as
when i once saw Jeremy Paxman and started flailing all my limbs
simultaneously, thus scaring him away, but quite excited nevertheless.”

making up for the fact I’m knocking my arse out in the office over a weekend and had to leave my lass to amuse herself in a city she doesn’t know, I’ve made the front page of trustedplace.com again with my review of Pierre’s Baguette’s Baocn sandwiches. Wicked.

What is Vaisakhi?

Posted in randomosity at 2:50 pm by coldclimate

Just occationally the corporate emails come in handy, like sending me this little nugget.

On Vaisakhi in 1699, during a period of particular tyranny and oppression, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Master of the Sikhs, initiated the Sikhs as the Khalsa (pure and sincere) and thus the Sikhs were born as a collective community. He bound the Sikhs to a strict code of conduct and with unshorn hair and turban, gave the Sikhs a distinct identity. The Guru gave the surname of Singh (Lion) to every Sikh man and the surname of Kaur (Princess) to every Sikh woman, in order for them to embody royalty and courage, with which to stand up against tyranny and injustice for all of humanity.

How is Vaisakhi celebrated?

On Vaisakhi, Sikhs will visit their local Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) to pray, spend time with their families, and exchange sweets and gifts. Many Sikh communities also organise “Nagar Kirtaans” a procession through the streets where free food and sweets are distributed to the public.

Traditionally the celebration of Vaisakhi takes the form of continuous reading of the Sikh Scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, over a period of three days. The programme ends with a final prayer for the good and well-being of the whole of humanity, and the serving of food.

The message of Vaisakhi has particular relevance today in multi-cultural and multi-faith Britain. Vaisakhi promotes friendship and mutual respect as the way forward. As Guru Gobind Singh Ji said; “Consider the whole of humanity as one”.

Posted in randomosity at 9:01 pm by coldclimate

Its stories like this that make me saddest of all - I can blog about anything I like, post photos of anything I see, and here we have a government who has kidnapped and murdered somebody for telling the world what was happening.

There are no too ways about it, this has to stop.
