Always refreshing to hear an American with the exact oposite views to most - the freakonomics blog points out that the low prices for fuel in the US are responcible for many bad things.
Whilst I was in NYC there was outrage that fuel had hit $3 a gallon (£1.50 for 5 litres) and people were furious. The girl and I were laughing at the poor deluded fools, paying nearly £ a litre. There was also a brilliant advert for an SUV (fat bastard 4×4) that proud claimed “Nearly 25 miles per gallon”. Fuck me kids - 25! I think lawnmovers get that in the uk.

OK - today is official our last day in NYC, and for the last 5 days it has been hot. Very hot. Super dngously hot. I’ve even got a tan.
Shame about the total lack of internet whilst we were here, otherwise I ouwld have been blogging and flickring and trustedplaces’ing as we went, however, it was not to be. I’ve taken a stack of photos however, and have all my various recipts so I can write up places as over the next few weeks when I get back.
Unfortunately my stomach has turned against me, and is rebelling. This is not a good way to start a day that will culminate in an 8 hour flight. It might be last nights numerous rounds of frozen margaritas that did it, at least, that what I’m going to blame.

Yesteay was a really great day. We booked onto a food tour round Greenwich village, which is, should I evebe given the chance where I would live in New York. Crazy three and a half hours, with a rambling gentlemen who know somebody on every round. So much more to tell, so little internet to steal (this time from a brilliant Mexican place I’ll review later).

Would you Adam it - The apartment hasn’t got internet access! Still, we got here ok, made it into town, the apartment rocks (photos to come, it’s stunning), went out to dinner (Pucunnis - teeny tiny place with no booze license so you bring your own - great food), and crashed.
Sunday we thundered all over Manhatten, up and down, through the food fair on 9th avenue, I ate a whole brisket, and the girl had a pina colada that clearly was booze free. That evening we drank frozen maragaritas at the place round the corner from the apartment, and all was well.
Today - MoMA, and queueing for Avenue Q tickets, and sitting in the park stealing wireless. Hopefully shall use trustedplaces to find us dinner tonight.

OK, tomorrow, the big trip is all kicking off on Saturday. The girl is on her way down tomorrow, I shall have finished my course, and after a good nights sleep, we’re off to the airport.
The amazing news is that there are 48 places in NYC reviewed on trustedplaces.com as of this evening! Thats double what there were last week, and four times as many places as when I first got in touch.
I’ve also had a good few recommendations from Paul who owns the flat we’re staying in, and Big O, my old flatmate.

Right - now at the end of this month I and theGirl will be heading to New York for nearly two weeks. I’m hoping to make use of my new found interweb project TrustedPlaces (have I told you to go join, review and enjoy? No? Then go! Now! Review! Enjoy! More!). The plan is that hopefully TP memebers will recommend places in NYC (TP is very Londoncentric at the moment, but it will happily handle most other cities as far as I can tell), and then I and theGirl will visit places. I’m hoping to blog most of it onto here too, hence the new catagory of this post - NYC. In theory this means going to http://www.coldclimate.co.uk/category/nyc/ will then show up all NYC related posts.
There should hopefully be some Flickr goodness, and possibly some GPS mashup stuff too (if I get my DG100 working with the Mac)
